چکیده

were characterized by a rise of the levels associated with oestrus to a well-defined peak followed by a sudden decrease, usually to the lowest levels observed. After conception, the levels of oestrone were not appreciably different from those during the oestrous cycle until at the end of the 3rd week at which time the excretion of oestrone increased. The week of maximal oestrone excretion in the three sows during early pregnancy lasted from Days 24, 25 and 27 after breeding. Consistent fluctuations during the oestrous cycle or after conception of urinary oestradiol-fraction Kober chromogens were not recorded.

Immunohistochemical studies on the progesterone receptor (PR) in the sow uterus during the oestrous cycle and in inseminated sows at oestrus and early pregnancy.

Physiological changes in the sow uterus involve the regulation by progesterone and its receptor proteins (PR). Therefore, the aim of the present study was to investigate the localization of PR during different stages of the oestrous cycle and in inseminated sows during early pregnancy by use of immunohistochemistry. Uterine samples were collected from cyclic and inseminated sows at different st...

Temporal and spatial associations of oestrogen receptor alpha and progesterone receptor in the endometrium of cyclic and early pregnant mares.

Uterine function is primarily controlled by the combined actions of oestrogen and progesterone working through their cognate nuclear receptors. The mechanism of establishment of pregnancy in the mare is of interest because it involves prolonged pre-attachment and conceptus migration phases, and both invasive and non-invasive placental cell types, and as such has been an important comparative mo...

The effect of prostaglandin F2 alpha during various stages of the oestrous cycle of beef heifers.

The effects of prostaglandin F2\g=a\on peripheral plasma progesterone and oestrogen levels, incidence of oestrous cycle alteration, and fertility were examined in thirty beef heifers. The PGF2\g=a\was administered by insertion of an insemination pipette into the lumen of the uterus during three periods of the oestrous cycle: Days 3 to 5, Days 9 and 10, and Days 16 and 17. Oestrus occurred withi...

Effect of IUD on uterine cyclic AMP and the activities of adenyl cyclase and phosphodiesterase during the oestrous cycle and early pregnancy in rats.

Oestrogen administration to spayed rats produces biochemical changes in the uterus. Wrenn, Wood & Bitman (1969a) found that oestrogen increased the glycogen and nucleic acid content and the weight of the uterus and Szego & Davis (1967) noted that oestrogen raised the level ofcyclic AMP in the uterus. The presence of an IUD has been shown to cause similar changes (Wrenn et al., 1969b). There thu...
